Last Thursday the kids had their 3rd quarter conferences. First up was Madi & she is doing awesome as always. She is still reading at a middle school level (she's only in 2nd grade) and is almost perfect on everything else. The only thing she did not have a 100% in is math but she had a 96% which is still great! Her teacher said she is very smart and far advanced for her age. She also said that Madi is always kind & helpful to the other kids & in fact the teacher puts kids who are struggling at Madi's table because she knows Madi will help them out. The best part of the conference was when her teacher suggested that Madi enter a state wide writing contest! The teacher said she already has a few good stories that would be perfect and she can use those if she wants or she can write a new one. Madi always has a "perfect" one but still needs to draw 4 more pictures for it.
As for Aidyn he is also doing well academically. He is right on track for reading & is above everyone else in math. They had this worksheet to do that tested their knowledge of math and he was only supposed to do one side of the paper. He did both & was able to do the math he had not been taught yet! He was the only one to figure it out.
The only issue with Aidyn is his behavior. His 1st quarter he had some problems listening & following directions. The 2nd quarter he did much better & impressed everyone. This last quarter he was back to behaving badly again. He likes to talk all the time (hmmm like his mama? lol) and it gets him in trouble. I could tell his teacher is getting frustrated with him even though she has a TON of patience. From now on, if Aidyn behaves badly at school, he is not allowed to play outside at home. The really great part is he always tells me if he got into trouble each day so I will know. Hopefully he will continue to let me know but if not I guess I could ask his teacher to give me a report.
Overall I have 2 great kids who are really smart! But we all knew that already, lol
